Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27228

Abu Al-Fadl told us, Maktoum bin Al-Abbas Al-Tirmidhi told us, Abdullah bin Saleh told us, he said Al-Layth told me, he said Aqeel told me, on the authority of Ibn Shihab, he said, Abu Salama bin Abdul Rahman told me, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to bring a man If the deceased owes a debt, he says, “Did he leave anything to pay off his debt?” If it happens that he left a debt to pay off, he will pray for it. Otherwise, he says For Muslims: “Bless your companion.” When God bestowed conquests upon him, he stood up and said, “I have more right to the believers than their own selves, so whoever One of the Muslims died and left behind a debt that he had to pay off, and whoever leaves behind wealth, it belongs to his heirs.” Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith. It was narrated by Yahya bin Bukayr and more than one person on the authority of Al-Layth bin Saad, similar to the hadith of Abdullah bin Salih.
