Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27393

Al-Hasan bin Ali Al-Khallal, Abdah bin Abdullah Al-Khuza’i Al-Basri Abu Sahl, and others told us, they said, ‘Abd al-Samad narrated to us. Ibn Abdul-Warith, on the authority of Yazid Ibn Ibrahim, on the authority of Ibn Sirin, on the authority of Ayyub, on the authority of Yusuf Ibn Mahak, on the authority of Hakim Ibn Hazzam, he said The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, forbade me to sell what I do not have. Abu Issa said, and Waki’ narrated this hadith on the authority of Yazid ibn Ibrahim, on the authority of Ibn Sirin, on the authority of Ayyub, on the authority of Hakim ibn Hazzam. He did not mention in it on the authority of Yusuf ibn Mahek, and the narration of Abd al-Samad is more authentic. Yahya narrated Ibn Abi Kathir, this hadith on the authority of Ya`la ibn Hakim, on the authority of Yusuf ibn Mahik, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Asmah, on the authority of Hakim ibn Hazzam, on the authority of The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. This hadith is acted upon according to most of the people of knowledge. They disliked for a man to sell what he does not have.
