Hadith #27401
Qutaibah narrated to us, Al-Layth narrated to us, on the authority of Ibn Shihab, on the authority of Malik ibn Aws ibn al-Hadathan, that he said, “I accepted to say, ‘Whoever denotes Dirhams, so Talha bin Ubaid Allah said while he was with Omar bin Al-Khattab: Show us your gold, then come to us, and when our servant comes, we will give you your paper. So he said Omar: No, by God, you will either give him his silver or return his gold to him, for the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “The silver in exchange for gold is usury, except for H.” And Ha, and wheat for wheat is usury except Ha and Ha, and barley for barley is usury except Ha and Ha, and dates for dates is usury except Ha and Ha. And E. Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith. This is acted upon according to the people of knowledge. The meaning of his saying is “except Ha and Ha” he says “hand in hand”.
