Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29458

Sufyan bin Wakee’ narrated to us, Yahya bin Adam narrated to us, Ubayd Allah Al-Ashja’i narrated to us, on the authority of Al-Thawri, on the authority of Uthman bin Al-Mughirah Al-Thaqafi, on the authority of Salem bin Abi Al-Jaad, on the authority of Ali bin Alqamah Al-Anmari, on the authority of Ali bin Abi Talib, he said when it was revealed: (O (Those who have believed, when you debate with the Messenger, then give charity before your debate.) The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to me, “You do not see a dinar.” I said, “No.” They can bear it. He said, “Half a dinar.” I said, “They cannot bear it.” He said, “How much?” I said, “A ritual.” He said, “You are “For a small thing.” He said, “Then the verse was revealed: (Are you afraid that you will give alms for your private conversations before Me?)” The verse was revealed. “For my sake, may God lighten This nation.
