Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29461

Al-Hasan bin Muhammad Al-Zaafrani narrated to us, Affan bin Muslim narrated to us, Hafs bin Ghayath narrated to us, Habib bin Abi Amra narrated to us, on the authority of Saeed Ibn Jubayr, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, in the words of God Almighty: (You cut down a soft land or leave it standing on its roots.) He said, “The soft palm tree. He will disgrace the transgressors.” He said, “They brought them down from their fortresses.” He said, “And they ordered the palm trees to be cut down.” So it scratched their chests. He said. We have cut off some of the Muslims and left others. So let us ask the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, whether we will receive any reward for what we have cut off. On us for the burden we left behind, so God Almighty revealed: (Whether you cut down any soft land or leave it standing on its roots.) The verse. Abu Issa said, “This is a good and strange hadith.” Some of them narrated this hadith on the authority of Hafs ibn Ghayath, on the authority of Habib ibn Abi Amra, on the authority of Saeed bin Jubayr, mursal, but no mention of Ibn Abbas was mentioned in it. Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman told me about that, Harun bin Muawiyah told us, On the authority of Hafs bin Ghayath, on the authority of Habib bin Abi Amra, on the authority of Saeed bin Jubayr, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, on the authority of a messenger. Abu Issa said: He heard from me Muhammad bin Ismail this hadith.
