Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29481

Abd bin Humaid told us, Abu Al-Walid told me, Abu Awanah told us, on the authority of Abu Bishr, on the authority of Saeed bin Jubayr, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, May God be pleased with them. He said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, did not read anything about the jinn, nor did he see them. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, set out with a group of his companions. They were heading to the market of Ukaz, and there was a barrier between the devils and the news of heaven, and meteors were sent upon them, so the devils returned to their people, and they said, “What? They said, “There is nothing between us and the news of the sky, and meteors have been sent down upon us.” So they said, “What comes between us and the news?” the sky, except for something that has happened, so strike the easts of the earth and its wests and see what this is that has come between you and the news of the sky. He said, so go. They strike the easts and wests of the earth, seeking what has come between them and the news of heaven. So that group departed. Those who headed towards Tihama to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, while he was at Nakhlah, heading towards Souk Ukaz, and he was leading his companions in prayer. At dawn, when they heard the Qur’an, they listened to it and said, “This is by God who has come between you and the news of heaven.” He said, “There it is.” They returned to their people and said, “O our people: (Indeed, we have heard a wondrous Qur’an, which guides us to the right path. So we believed in it, and we will not associate anyone with our Lord. So God revealed to His Prophet: (Say: It was revealed to me that he listened.) But the word of the jinn was revealed to him. He said, with this chain of narration. On the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said: What the jinn said to their people (When Abdullah rose up to call upon him, they almost became a cloud over him) He said: when they saw him praying And his companions prayed with his prayer and prostrated with his prostration. He said: They were amazed at his companions’ obedience to him. They said to their people: (When he rose Slave They call upon God, almost as if they had been there forever.) He said: This is a good and authentic hadith.
