Sunan ad-Darimi — Hadith #55062

Ubayd Allah ibn Abdul Majeed narrated to us, Malik narrated to us, on the authority of Ibn Shihab, on the authority of Sahl ibn Saad: that Uwaimira Al-Ajlani said: Oh Messenger of God, have you seen a man who found a man with his wife? Should he kill him and they should kill him, or what should he do? Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said He said: “Allah has revealed this revelation concerning you and your companion, so go and bring it.” Sahl said: So we cursed each other while I was with the people in the presence of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. When they finished cursing them, he said: I lied to her, O Messenger. By God, if I keep her, then divorce her three times before... The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, commands him. Ibn Shihab said: This was after the Sunnah of the Cursed. Muhammad bin Yusuf told us, on the authority of Al-Awza’i, on the authority of Ibn Shihab, on the authority of Sahl bin Sa’d, that Uwaimir came to Asim bin Adi, and he was the master of Banu Ajlan, so he mentioned something like it. He did not mention “he divorced her three times.”
