Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27938

Yahya bin Musa told us, Sa’id bin Muhammad al-Warraq told us, and Abu Yahya al-Hamani told us, they said, Saleh bin Hassan told us, on the authority of Urwa, on the authority of Aisha, she said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to me, “If you want to join me, let this world be sufficient for you as the rider’s provisions, and you.” And sit with the rich, and do not make a garment until you patch it.” Abu Issa said, “This is a strange hadith. We do not know it except from a Saleh hadith.” Ibn Hassan. He said, “And I heard Muhammad say: Salih ibn Hassan is a denier of hadith, and Salih ibn Abi Hassan is the one from whom Ibn Abi Dhib narrated.” Trustworthy. Abu Issa said, and the meaning of his saying is “Beware of sitting with the rich.” It is similar to what was narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah, on the authority of the Prophet. May God’s prayers and peace be upon him, he said: “Whoever sees someone who has been superior to him in creation and provision, let him look at someone who is lower than him over whom he has excelled.” For he is more worthy not to despise God’s blessing upon him.” It is narrated on the authority of Aoun bin Abdullah bin Utbah that he said, “I accompanied the rich.” I did not see anyone more anxious than me. I saw an animal better than my own, and a garment better than my own. I accompanied the poor, so I rested.
