Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28006

Muhammad bin Bashar told us, Al-Ala bin Al-Fadl bin Abdul-Malik bin Abi Suwayya Abu Al-Hudhayl told us, Ubaid Allah bin Ikrash, on the authority of his father, Ikrash ibn Dhu’ayb, who said: Banu Murrah ibn Ubaid sent me with the alms of their wealth to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. So I came to him in Medina and found him sitting between the Muhajireen and the Ansar. He said, then he took me by the hand and took me to Umm Salamah’s house. He said, “Is there anyone?” “Food.” So we were brought a bush full of porridge and wheat, and we began to eat from it. Then I touched its sides with my hand. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, ate from between his hands, and he held my right hand with his left hand, then said, “O Ikrash, eat from one place, for it is “One food.” Then we were brought a dish containing various colors of dates or dates. Ubayd Allah was skeptical. He said, “So I started eating from between My hand, and the hand of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, roamed the dish and said, “O Ikrash, eat wherever you want, for it is not one color.” Then we were brought with water. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, washed his hands and wiped his face, arms, and head with the wetness of his palms, and said, “O Ikrash, this “Ablution from what the fire has changed.” And in the hadith there is a story. Abu Issa said, “This is a strange hadith. We do not know it except from the hadith of Al-Ala’ ibn Al-Fadl: Al-‘Ala alone narrated this hadith, and we do not know of Ikrash on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, except this hadith.
