Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28726

Muhammad bin Bashar and Muhammad bin Al-Muthanna narrated to us, saying: Muhammad bin Ja’far narrated to us, Shu’bah narrated to us, on the authority of Mansour bin Al-Mu’tamir, he said I heard Rabi’i bin Harash, narrating on the authority of Zaid bin Dhabyan, transmitting it to Abu Dharr on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, who said: “Three God loves them, and there are three whom God hates. As for those whom God loves, a man came to a people and asked them about God, but he did not ask them about any kinship. Between him and them, they prevented him, so a man lagged behind them, so he gave him a secret whose gift no one knows except God and the one who gave him. And some people walked throughout the night until sleep was more beloved to them than anything equivalent to it. They came down and laid down their heads, and one of them stood up and flattered me. My verses will be recited while a man was in a troop and met the enemy and was defeated, and he attacked him until he was killed or a victory was opened for him. And the three who God hates them: the adulterous sheikh, the deceitful poor, and the unjust rich.” Mahmoud bin Ghaylan told us, Al-Nadr bin Shumail told us, on the authority of Shu`bah, and the like.
