Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29321

Mahmoud bin Ghaylan told us, Al-Nadr bin Shumail told us, Salih bin Abi Al-Akhdar told us, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Sa’id bin Al-Musayyab, on the authority of Abu Hurairah said: When the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, departed from Khaybar, he spent the night in captivity until the army overtook him. “O Bilal, eat for us tonight.” He said, so Bilal prayed, then he went back to his riding mount just before dawn, and his eyes overwhelmed him, so he fell asleep and did not sleep. One of them would wake up, and the first of them to wake up was the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him. He said, “What Bilal?” Bilal said, “May my father be sacrificed for you.” The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, took my life as he took yours. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Lead.” Then he sighed, performed ablution, and established the prayer. Then he prayed like his prayer for a moment while remaining silent, then he said: (And perform the prayer in remembrance of Me.) He said this is an unpreserved hadith that was narrated by him. Not one of the narrators reported on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Saeed bin Al-Musayyab, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, did not mention in it the authority of Abu Hurairah. And Saleh bin Abi Al-Akhdar is weak in the hadith. Yahya bin Sa’id al-Qattan and others weakened it because of his memorization.
