Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #26377

He said, when he finished his prayer and turned away When he saw two men at the end of the people, they did not pray with him, so he said, “I will have them.” Then he brought them while their prayers were thundering, and he said, “What?” He prevented you from praying with us.” They said, “O Messenger of God, we had already prayed while we were traveling.” He said, “Then do not do that if you prayed in Your journeys, then you come to a mosque in congregation and pray with them, for it is a voluntary prayer for you.” He said, and in the chapter on the authority of Muhjan al-Daili and more. Ibn Amir. Abu Issa said that the hadith of Yazid ibn Al-Aswad is a hasan and authentic hadith. It is the opinion of more than one of the scholars, and he says about it. Sufyan Al-Thawri, Al-Shafi’i, Ahmad, and Ishaq said: If a man prays alone and then joins the congregation, then he repeats all the prayers in congregation. And if a man prays Maghrib alone and then he catches up with the group, they say, then he prays it with them and intercedes with a rak’ah. He prayed alone, which is what is prescribed for them.
