Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #26388

Hanad narrated to us, Abu Al-Ahwas narrated to us, on the authority of Husayn, on the authority of Hilal bin Yasaf, who said: Ziyad bin Abi Al-Jaad took my hand while we were in Raqqa. So he led me to a sheikh called Wabisa bin Ma’abad from Banu Asad, and Ziyad said: This sheikh told me that a man prayed behind the row alone. And the sheikh was listening, so the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, ordered him to repeat the prayer. Some of the people of knowledge disliked for a man to pray behind the row alone. And they said that he should repeat it when he prays behind the row alone. This is what Ahmad and Ishaq said. Some of the people of knowledge have said that it is sufficient if he prays. Behind the row alone. This is the view of Sufyan al-Thawri, Ibn al-Mubarak, and al-Shafi’i. Some of the people of Kufa went to the hadith And Babisa bin Ma’bad also said: Whoever prays behind the row alone should repeat. Among them are Hammad bin Abi Sulayman, Ibn Abi Laila, and Waki’. He narrated The hadith of Husayn on the authority of Hilal bin Yasaf is not one, like the narration of Abu Al-Ahwas on the authority of Ziyad bin Abi Al-Ja’d on the authority of Wabisa bin Ma’abad. And in the hadith of Husayn there is evidence that a crescent moon has reached a clear sight. The scholars of hadith differed on this matter, and some of them said the hadith of Amr ibn Murrah on the authority of Hilal bin Yasaf, on the authority of Amr bin Rashid, on the authority of Wabisa bin Ma’abad, is more authentic. Some of them said a strong hadith on the authority of Hilal bin Yasaf, on the authority of Ziad Ibn Abi al-Ja`d on the authority of Wabisa ibn Ma`abad is more authentic. Abu Issa said, and in my view this is more authentic than the hadith of Amr ibn Murrah because it was narrated from Other than the hadith of Hilal bin Yasaf, on the authority of Ziyad bin Abi Al-Ja’d, on the authority of Wabisa.
