Qutaibah narrated to us, Abu Al-Ahwas narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, on the authority of Burayd bin Abi Maryam, on the authority of Abu Al-Hawra Al-Saadi, he said Al-Hasan said Ibn Ali, may God be pleased with them. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, taught me some words that I would say in the Witr prayer: “O God, guide me among those whom You have guided.” And grant me health among whomever you have maintained, and take care of me among those whom you have taken care of, and bless for me what You have given, and protect me from the evil of what you have decreed, for indeed You decree and it will not be decreed against you, and He does not humiliate anyone. “And that you had blessed and exalted our Lord.” He said, and in the chapter on the authority of Ali. Abu Issa said, “This is a good hadith that we do not know.” Except from this point of view, from the hadith of Abu Al-Hawra Al-Saadi, whose name is Rabi’ah bin Shayban. We do not know of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, regarding Qunut in The Witr is something better than this. The people of knowledge differed regarding the Qunoot in the Witr, but Abdullah bin Masoud saw the Qunoot in the Witr. The Witr prayer during the entire Sunnah, and he chose Qunoot before bowing. This is the opinion of some people of knowledge, and Sufyan Al-Thawri and Ibn Al-Mubarak, Ishaq, and the people of Kufa. It was narrated on the authority of Ali bin Abi Talib that he would not perform Qunoun except in the other half of Ramadan. He used to recite Qunoot after bowing. Some of the people of knowledge have held this view, and this is what Al-Shafi’i and Ahmad say.
