Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27135

Hanad told us, Abu Muawiyah told us, on the authority of Al-Amash, on the authority of Shaqiq, on the authority of Umm Salamah, she said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to us, “If you attend Sick or dead, speak good, for the angels believe in what you say. She said: When Abu Salamah died I came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and said, O Messenger of God, that Abu Salamah has died. He said, “Then say, O God, forgive me and him and grant me a good deed after him.” She said, so I said, “May God grant me success from him who is better than him, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.” Abu Issa said, “He is a brother.” Ibn Salamah Abu Wael Al-Asadi. Abu Issa said that the hadith of Umm Salamah is a good and authentic hadith. It was desirable for the sick person to be taught when Death is saying there is no god but Allah. Some people of knowledge said that if he said that once, then unless he spoke after that, he should not He will be taught, and he will not be repeated about this. It was narrated on the authority of Ibn Al-Mubarak that when death approached him, he had a man teach him: There is no god but God. And he repeated it, and Abdullah said to him, “If I said once, then I will do that as long as I do not utter a word.” Rather, the meaning of Abdullah’s statement is He only meant what was narrated on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace: “Whoever’s last saying is ‘There is no god but God’ will enter Paradise.”
