Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27277

Abu Saeed Al-Ashjaj narrated to us, Ash’ath bin Abdul-Rahman bin Zubaid Al-Ayami narrated to us, Mujalid narrated to us, on the authority of Al-Sha’abi, on the authority of Jabir bin Abdullah, on the authority of Al-Harith, on the authority of Ali, who said that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, cursed the one who makes it permissible and the one for whom it is permissible. He said, and in the chapter on the authority of Ibn Masoud, Abu Hurairah, Uqba bin Amir, and Ibn Abbas. Abu Issa said: A hadith of Ali, and Jabir is a defective hadith. This is how it was narrated. Ash'ath bin Abdul Rahman, on the authority of Mujalid, on the authority of Amer, is Al-Shu'bi, on the authority of Al-Harith, on the authority of Ali, and Amer, on the authority of Jabir bin Abdullah, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. And this is a hadith whose chain of transmission is not narrated by al-Qa’im, because Mujalid bin Saeed was deemed weak by some scholars, including Ahmad bin Hanbal. Abdullah bin Numayr narrated this hadith, on the authority of Mujalid, on the authority of Amer, on the authority of Jabir bin Abdullah, on the authority of Ali. And this is where they misunderstood Ibn Numayr, and the first hadith is more correct. It was narrated by Mughirah, Ibn Abi Khaled, and more than one person, on the authority of Al-Sha’bi, on the authority of Al-Harith, on the authority of Ali.
