Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27239

Mahmoud bin Ghaylan narrated to us, Abu Ahmad Al-Zubayri narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, on the authority of Al-A’mash, on the authority of Amara bin Umair, on the authority of Abdul Rahman Ibn Yazid, on the authority of Abdullah Ibn Masoud, he said: We went out with the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, while we were young and unable to do anything. He said, “Oh Young people, you must abstain from the abstinence, for it lowers the gaze and protects one’s chastity. Whoever among you is not able to abstain from the abstention must fast, for Fasting has a reward.” Abu Issa said, “This is a good and authentic hadith. Al-Hasan bin Ali Al-Khallal narrated to us. Abdullah bin Numayr, Al-A’mash told us, on the authority of Amara, and the like. Abu Issa said, and he narrated more than one, on the authority of Al-A’mash, with this chain of transmission like this Abu Muawiyah and Al-Muharbi narrated on the authority of Al-A’mash, on the authority of Ibrahim, on the authority of Alqamah, on the authority of Abdullah, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and something similar. Abu Issa said both of them are authentic.
