Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28251

Al-Hasan bin Arafa told us, he said, Yazid bin Harun told us, on the authority of Sufyan Al-Thawri, on the authority of Abu Qays Al-Awdi, on the authority of Huzail bin Shurahbil, he said A man came to Abu Musa and Salman bin Rabi’ah and asked them about the daughter, the son’s daughter, and the sister of a father and mother. They said to the daughter. The remaining half goes to the sister from the father and mother. They said to him, “Go to Abdullah and ask him, for he will follow us.” Then Abdullah came. So he mentioned that to him and told him what they had said. Abdullah said, “Then I have gone astray, and I am not of those who are guided, but I will judge them as the Messenger of God has decided.” God, may God bless him and grant him peace, gets the daughter half, the son’s daughter a sixth, the completion of two-thirds, and the sister gets what’s left. Abu Issa said this is a good hadith. Abu Qais Al-Awdi’s name is Abd al-Rahman bin Tharwan al-Kufi, and Shu’bah narrated it on the authority of Abu Qais.
