Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29123

Ibn Abi Umar narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, he said I heard Al-Zuhri narrating on the authority of Urwa, he said: I said to Aisha: I do not see anyone who has not circumambulated between Al-Safa and Al-Marwah are one thing, and I do not care if I do not circumambulate between them. She said, “How miserable is what you said, O son of my sister, the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, circumambulated.” And the Muslims circumambulated, but it was only those who were deserving of the tyrant’s Manat, which is paralyzed. They do not circumambulate between Safa and Marwah, so God revealed: (So who If he performs Hajj to the House or performs Umrah, there is no blame on him for circumambulating them.) And if it were as you say, it would be so, there is no blame on him. That he should not circumambulate them. Al-Zuhri said, “I mentioned that to Abu Bakr bin Abdul-Rahman bin Al-Harith bin Hisham, and he liked that and said.” This is knowledge, and I have heard men of knowledge say, “The only Arabs who do not circumambulate between Safa and Marwah say: Our circumambulation between these two stones is a matter of pre-Islamic times, and others among the Ansar said, “We were commanded to circumambulate the Kaaba, and we were not commanded to do it between Al-Safa and Al-Marwah, so God Almighty revealed (Indeed, Al-Safa and Al-Marwah are among the symbols of God) Abu Bakr bin Abd said. The Most Gracious, so I see that it was revealed about these people and those people. Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith.
