Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29362

Abd bin Humayd narrated to us, Othman bin Omar narrated to us, on the authority of Yunus bin Yazid, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Abu Salamah, on the authority of Aisha, may God be pleased with her, who said when The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was ordered to choose his wives. He started with me and said, “O Aisha, I am mentioning a matter to you, so you do not have to do that.” Be hasty until you ask your parents for advice.” She said, “And he knew that my parents were not going to order me to separate from him.” She said, “Then he said.” God Almighty says: (O Prophet, tell your wives, “If you desire the life of this world and its adornments, then come.”) until he reached (For the good-doing women among you will have a great reward.) So I said: “Which of this should I consult with my parents? For I want God and His Messenger and the Hereafter.” And he did. The wives of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, just as I did. Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith. This was also narrated on the authority of Al-Zuhri. On the authority of Urwa, on the authority of Aisha, may God be pleased with her.
