Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29577

Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman told us, Muhammad bin Imran bin Abi Laila told us, my father told me, Ibn Abi Laila told me, on the authority of Dawud Ibn Ali, he is Ibn Abdullah Ibn Abbas, on the authority of his father, on the authority of his grandfather Ibn Abbas, who said: I heard the Prophet of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saying, “One night When he finished his prayer, “O God, I ask you for a mercy from you, by which you guide my heart, gather my affairs, bring together my affairs, and set right.” With it I am absent, with it you raise up my witnesses, with it you purify my deeds, with it you inspire me with my guidance, with it you restore my affinity, and with it you protect me from all evil. O God, give me faith and certainty beyond which there is no disbelief, and mercy by which I may attain the honor of Your generosity in this world and the hereafter. O God, I ask You to win in Giving, and it is narrated in the judiciary, and the descending of the martyrs, and the life of the happy, and victory over the enemies. Oh God, I grant you my need. And if my judgment becomes short and my actions become weak and I lack Your mercy, then I ask You, O Judge of matters and O Healer of hearts, as You move between the seas, to grant me protection from The torment of the Blazing Fire, and the call to destruction, and the trial of the graves. Oh God, my mind has not fallen short of it, nor has my intention reached it, nor has My request reaches him, whether of the good you have promised to one of your creation, or the good you are giving to one of your servants, then I desire it from you and I ask of you. By your mercy, Lord of the worlds, O God, possessor of the strong rope and the wise command, I ask you for security on the Day of Threat and Paradise on the Day of Eternity. With those who are close, the witnesses who kneel and prostrate, those who fulfill their covenants. Indeed, You are Merciful and Kind, and You do what You want. O God, make us guided, guided and not astray. Nor do we mislead the peace of your friends and an enemy to your enemies. We love with your love those who love you and enmity with your enmity those who love you. O God, make this supplication for me, a light in my heart, and a light from Between my hands, a light behind me, a light to my right, a light to my left, a light above me, a light below me, and a light in my hearing. And a light in my sight, and a light in my hair, and a light in my skin, and a light in my flesh, and a light in my blood, and a light in my bones. Oh God, make light greater for me and give me light and make for me Light, Glory be to Him who took pride in glory and said by it. Glory be to Him who clothed glory and was honored by it. Glory be to Him who should not Glory be to Him, except to Him. Glory be to Him of bounty and blessings. Glory be to Him of glory and generosity. Glory be to Him of majesty and honor. Abu Issa said this. A strange hadith that we do not know except from the hadith of Ibn Abi Laila from this perspective. Shu’bah and Sufyan al-Thawri narrated on the authority of Salamah ibn Kuhayl, on the authority of Kurayb, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, mentioned some of this hadith but did not mention it in its entirety.
