Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29732

Sufyan bin Waki’ told us, Jarir told us, on the authority of Mansour, on the authority of Saad bin Ubaidah, Al-Baraa told me, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said “ When you go to bed, perform your ablution for prayer, then lie on your right side, then say, O God, I turn my face to You. And I have entrusted my affairs to you and turned my back to you out of fear and desire for you. There is no refuge or refuge from you except in you. I have believed in your book which You sent down and by your Prophet whom you sent, so if you die on your night, you will die on the right path.” He said, “I repeated them to remind him, and I said, ‘I believe.’” In Your Messenger whom You have sent. He said, “Say, ‘I believe in your Prophet whom You have sent.’” He said, “This is a good and authentic hadith. It was narrated from others.” It is narrated on the authority of Al-Bara’, and we do not know of any mention of ablution in any of the narrations except in this hadith.
