Sunan ad-Darimi — Hadith #54370

Yazid bin Harun informed us, Ibn Aoun informed us, on the authority of Muhammad, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, prayed One of the evening prayers, so he prayed two rak’ahs, then he said the salutation and got up to an obstruction in the mosque and placed his hand on it. Yazid said: Ibn Aoun showed us, and he placed his palms, one on the back of the other, and inserted his upper fingers into the lower ones, and stood as if Angry, he said: Then the people rushing out came out and started saying: The prayer has been shortened, the prayer has been shortened. Among the people were Abu Bakr and Omar. They were talking, and among the people was a man with long hands called Dhul-Yadin. He said: O Messenger of God, have you forgotten the prayer or has it been shortened? He said: “I have not forgotten nor shortened the prayer.” He said: “Is that so?” They said: Yes. He said: “So he came back.” He completed what remained, then he said the salaam and said “Allahu Akbar” and prostrated for a long time, then he raised his voice. Then he raised his head and left.”
