Sunan ad-Darimi — Hadith #54999

Ubaid bin Yaish told us, Yunus told us, he is Ibn Bukayr, Ibn Ishaq told us, on the authority of Muhammad bin Amr bin Ata, on the authority of Suleiman Ibn Yasar, on the authority of Aisha, the wife of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, who said: There was a woman from the people of Medina who had a husband who was a merchant who disagreed. She used to see a vision whenever her husband was absent from her, and rarely was he absent except that he left her pregnant, so she would come to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. So she says: My husband, a merchant, went out and left me pregnant, so I saw as a sleeper sees: that the pole of my house was broken, and that I gave birth to a boy. One-eyed. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “It is good. Your husband will come back to you, God Almighty willing, and he will be good, and you will give birth to a righteous boy.” She would see her two or three times, and each time she would come to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he would say that to her and he would return. Her husband, and she was giving birth to a boy. She came one day as she used to come, while the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was absent, and she saw that vision. So I said to her: What do you ask the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, O nation of God? She said: I was seeing a vision, so I will come to the Messenger of God. May God’s prayers and peace be upon him, so I ask him about it and he says good, and it is as he said. So I said: Tell me what it is. She said: Until the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, comes, so I present it to him as I used to present it. By God, I did not leave her until she told me, so I said: By God, if Your visions came true. Your husband will die and you will give birth to an immoral boy. So she began to cry and said, “What is wrong with me when I show you my vision?” Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, entered while she was crying, and said to her: What is wrong with her, Aisha? So I told him the news and what I interpreted for it. Then a messenger said God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him: “What, O Aisha, if you express the vision to a Muslim, express it in a good way, for the vision will be as it is.” Its owner will cross it.” By God, her husband died, and I never see her except that she gave birth to an immoral boy.
