Muhammad ibn Bashar and Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Sa`id al-Qattan narrated to us, Abd al-Hamid ibn Jaafar narrating to us, saying: Muhammad bin Amr bin Ata’, on the authority of Abu Humaid al-Sa’idi, who said, “I heard him while he was among ten of the companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.” One of them, Abu Qatada bin Rabi’i, said, “I inform you of the prayer of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.” They said, “We did not give him companionship or We have been more frequent to him. He said, “Yes.” They said, “Then turn away.” He said, “When the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, stood up to pray, he would stand up straight.” And he raised his hands until they were in line with his shoulders. So when he wanted to bow, he raised his hands until they were in line with his shoulders, then he said, “God is great.” “He bowed down, then he straightened up, but he did not direct his head and was not persuaded. He placed his hands on his knees and said, “God hears those who praise Him.” “And he raised his hands and straightened up until every bone returned to its straight place, then he descended to the ground, prostrating, and then said, “Allahu Akbar.” Then he pulled his upper arms away from his armpits and opened his toes, then bent his left leg and sat on it, then straightened up until all of his feet returned. He stood upright in his place, then he descended into prostration, then said, “Allahu Akbar.” Then he bent his leg, sat, and straightened until everyone returned. A bone in its place, then he got up, then he did the same in the second rak’ah, until when he got up from the two prostrations, he said “Allahu Akbar” and raised his hands until He aligns his shoulders with them, as he did when he began the prayer, then he did the same until the rak’ah in which his prayer ended, and he delayed his foot. Al-Yusra sat on his side, hunched over, then said salaam. Abu Issa said, “This is a good and authentic hadith.” He said, “What is the meaning of what he said?” and he raised his hands. If he stands up from the two prostrations, meaning he stands up from the two rak’ahs.
