Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #26461

Muhammad bin Bashar told us, Yahya bin Sa’id al-Qattan told us, Ubayd Allah bin Omar told us, Sa’id bin Abi Sa’id told me, on the authority of his father, On the authority of Abu Hurairah, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, entered the mosque, and a man entered and prayed, then he came and greeted the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. He replied, peace be upon him, and said, “Go back and pray, for you have not prayed.” So the man returned and prayed as he had prayed, then he came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he greeted him. He returned his greetings, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to him, “Go back and pray, for you have not prayed.” Until he did that three times, then the man said to him, “By the One who sent you with the truth, I cannot do better than this, so teach me.” So he said, “If you stand up to pray So say “Allahu Akbar,” then recite whatever is easy for you from the Qur’an, then bow until you are at ease in bowing, then rise until you are standing upright, then prostrate. Until you are at ease, prostrate, then rise until you are at ease sitting, and do that throughout your entire prayer.” Abu Issa said: This is a good hadith. Sahih. He said, Ibn Numayr narrated this hadith on the authority of Ubayd Allah ibn Umar, on the authority of Sa`id al-Maqbari, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, and he was not mentioned in it.
