Qutaibah and Ahmad bin Abdah al-Dhabi narrated to us, saying: Hammad bin Zayd narrated to us, on the authority of Ghaylan bin Jarir, on the authority of Abdullah bin Ma’abad, on the authority of Abu Qatada, it was said, O Messenger of God, how about someone who fasted for a long time, saying, “He neither fasted nor broke his fast.” Or, “He neither fasted nor broke his fast.” And on the subject, on the authority of Abdullah bin Amr, Abdullah bin Al-Shakheer, Imran bin Husayn, and Abu Musa. Abu Issa said the hadith of Abu Qatada A good hadith. Some of the people of knowledge disliked daily fasting, but other people permitted it and said, “Lifelong fasting is only valid if you do not He breaks the fast on the Day of Fitr, the Day of Al-Adha, and the days of Tashreeq. Whoever breaks the fast on these days has escaped the limit of hatred and has not fasted. For all eternity. This is what was narrated on the authority of Malik ibn Anas, and it is the opinion of Al-Shafi’i. Ahmad and Ishaq said something like this and said it is not obligatory. That He should break the fast on days other than these five days that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, forbade: the Day of Fitr, the Day of Al-Adha, and the days of Tashreeq.
