Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #27599

Al-Hasan bin Ali Al-Khalal narrated to us, Abu Dawud Al-Tayalisi narrated to us, Zaida bin Qudamah narrated to us, on the authority of Al-Suddi, on the authority of Saad bin Ubaidah, On the authority of Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami, he said, Ali addressed himself and said, “O people, establish the punishments on your slaves who are virtuous.” Among them and those who were not married. And a female slave of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, committed adultery, so he commanded me to flog her, and behold, she had recently had menstrual bleeding, so I feared that she might flog her. I asked her to kill her - or he said, "let her die - so I came to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and mentioned that to him, and he said, 'You have done well.'" Abu Issa, this is a hasan and authentic hadith. Al-Suddi’s name is Ismail bin Abdul Rahman, and he is one of the Successors. He heard it from Anas bin Malik. Hussein bin Ali bin Abi Talib, may God be pleased with him, saw this.
