Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29325

Mahmoud bin Ghaylan narrated to us, Waki’ narrated to us, Wahb bin Jarir, and Abu Dawud narrated to us. Then I will say, “Lord of my companions.” It will be said, “You are You do not know what they did after you. So I say as the righteous servant said (And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them, but when you took me, you were The Watcher is over them, and You are Witness over all things. * If You torture them, then they are Your servants, and if You forgive them, then You are the Mighty. Al-Hakim. It will be said, “These people have not continued to return on their heels since I separated from them.” Muhammad ibn Bashar told us, Muhammad told us Ibn Ja`far, Shu`bah narrated to us, on the authority of Al-Mughirah Ibn Al-Numan, and something similar. He said: This is a hasan and authentic hadith. It was narrated by Sufyan Al-Thawri. On the authority of Al-Mughirah bin Al-Nu’man and something similar. Abu Issa said as if he interpreted it to refer to the people of apostasy.
