Muhammad bin Bashar told us, Muhammad bin Khalid bin Uthama told us, Malik bin Anas told us, on the authority of Zayd bin Aslam, on the authority of his father, he said I heard Omar bin Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, saying: We were with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, on some of his travels, so I spoke to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. So I remained silent, then I spoke to him, and he remained silent, then I spoke to him, but he remained silent, so I moved my mount, then I stepped aside and said, “May your mother be bereaved of you, O Ibn Al-Khattab. You visited the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.” He, peace and blessings of God be upon him, three times. All of this. He who created you will not speak to you, lest the Qur’an be revealed to you. He said, “I did not cry out if I heard someone screaming.” He shouted at me. He said, “I came to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he said, ‘O Ibn Al-Khattab, a surah has been revealed to me this night. I do not wish to have anything to do with it. When the sun rose upon it, he said: “Indeed, We have given you a clear conquest.” Abu Issa said, “This is a good, authentic, and strange hadith.” He narrated it. Some of them were mursal on the authority of Malik.
