Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29502

Muhammad bin Bashar narrated to us, Abdul Rahman bin Mahdi narrated to us, Zaida bin Qudamah narrated to us, on the authority of Mansour bin Al-Mu’tamir, on the authority of Saad Ibn Ubaidah, on the authority of Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami, on the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him, who said: We were at a funeral in al-Baqi’, and the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, came. So he sat down, and we sat with him, and he had a stick with which to strike the earth, and he raised his head to the sky and said, “There is no soul that has been destroyed but its entrance has been written.” “Then the people said, O Messenger of God, should we not rely on our book, for whoever is among the people of happiness will work for happiness.” And whoever is among the people of misery will work for the sake of misery. He said, “Rather, work, for every thing will be made easy.” But whoever is among the people of happiness will be made easy. for the work of happiness, and as for whoever is among the people of misery, the work of misery will be facilitated.” Then he read: (As for whoever is given And he feared * and believed in what was good * We will make it easy for the hardship. Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith.
