Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah # 53/379
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَا بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: مَكَثَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِمَكَّةَ ثَلاثَ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً يُوحَى إِلَيْهِ، وَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ عَشْرًا، وَتُوُفِّيَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ.
Ahmad bin Mani’ told us, he said: Ruh bin Ubadah told us, he said: Zakaria bin Ishaq told us, he said: Amr bin Dinar told us, On the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said: The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, stayed in Mecca for thirteen years after receiving revelation, and in Medina for ten, and he died when he was three years old. حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يَخْطُبُ، قَالَ: مَاتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ، وَأَنَا ابْنُ ثَلاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ سنة.
Muhammad ibn Bashar narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Jaafar narrated to us, on the authority of Shu’bah, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, on the authority of Aamir ibn Sa’d, on the authority of Jarir, on the authority of Muawiyah, that he heard him delivering a sermon. حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ الْبَصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، مَاتَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ ثَلاثٍ وَسِتِّينَ سَنَةً.
Hussein bin Mahdi Al-Basri told us, he said: Abdul Razzaq told us, on the authority of Ibn Jurayj, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Urwa, on the authority of Aisha: The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, died when he was sixty-three years old.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، وَيَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ، قَالا: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ، قَالَ: أَنْبَأَنَا عَمَّارٌ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، يَقُولُ: تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّه ِصلى الله عليه وسلم، وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسٍ وَسِتِّينَ.
Ahmad ibn Mani’ and Ya’qub ibn Ibrahim al-Durqi told us, saying: Ismail ibn Aliya told us, on the authority of Khalid al-Hadha’, he said: Ammar, the client of Banu Hashim, told us: I heard Ibn Abbas say: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, died when he was sixty-five years old.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، قَالا: حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ دَغْفَلِ بْنِ حَنْظَلَةَ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، قُبِضَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسٍ وَسِتِّينَ، قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى: وَدَغْفَلُ، لا نَعْرِفُ لَهُ سَمَاعًا مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، وَكَانَ فِي زَمَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم.
Muhammad bin Bashar and Muhammad bin Aban narrated to us, saying: Muadh bin Hisham narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, on the authority of Qatada, on the authority of Al-Hasan, on the authority of Daghfal bin Hanzala: The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, was arrested when he was sixty-five years old. Abu Issa said: Daghfal, we do not know of him hearing from the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُوسَى الأَنْصَارِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ، يَقُولُ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، لَيْسَ بِالطَّوِيلِ الْبَائِنِ، وَلا بِالْقَصِيرِ، وَلا بِالأَبْيَضِ الأَمْهَقِ، وَلا بِالآدَمِ، وَلا بِالْجَعْدِ الْقَطَطِ، وَلا بِالسَّبْطِ، بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَلَى رَأْسِ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً، فَأَقَامَ بِمَكَّةَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ، وَبِالْمَدِينَةِ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ، وَتَوَفَّاهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى رَأْسِ سِتِّينَ سَنَةً، وَلَيْسَ فِي رَأْسِهِ وَلِحْيَتِهِ عِشْرُونَ شَعَرَةً بَيْضَاءَ.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، نَحْوَهُ.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، نَحْوَهُ.
Ishaq bin Musa Al-Ansari narrated to us, he said: Ma’an narrated to us, Malik bin Anas narrated to us, on the authority of Rabi’ah bin Abi Abd al-Rahman, on the authority of Anas Ibn Malik, that he heard him say: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was neither tall nor short, nor white and albino, nor human. With long hair, nor with a long hair, God Almighty sent him at the beginning of forty years, and he resided in Mecca for ten years, and in Medina for ten years. God caused him to die at the age of sixty years, and there were not twenty white hairs on his head or beard.
Qutayba bin Saeed told us, on the authority of Malik bin Anas, on the authority of Rabia bin Abi Abdul Rahman, on the authority of Anas bin Malik, and the like.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُوسَى الأَنْصَارِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ، يَقُولُ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، لَيْسَ بِالطَّوِيلِ الْبَائِنِ، وَلا بِالْقَصِيرِ، وَلا بِالأَبْيَضِ الأَمْهَقِ، وَلا بِالآدَمِ، وَلا بِالْجَعْدِ الْقَطَطِ، وَلا بِالسَّبْطِ، بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَلَى رَأْسِ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً، فَأَقَامَ بِمَكَّةَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ، وَبِالْمَدِينَةِ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ، وَتَوَفَّاهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى رَأْسِ سِتِّينَ سَنَةً، وَلَيْسَ فِي رَأْسِهِ وَلِحْيَتِهِ عِشْرُونَ شَعَرَةً بَيْضَاءَ.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، نَحْوَهُ.
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، نَحْوَهُ.
“Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) was neither very tall of stature, nor short. His skin was neither pale white, nor tawny, and his hair was neither crisply curled, nor lank. Allah (Exalted is He) sent him [to serve as His Messenger] at the end of forty years of life, so he stayed in Mecca for ten years and in Medina for ten years, and Allah took him unto Himself at the end of sixty years, with fewer than twenty white hairs on his head and in his beard.”
