Ash-Shama'il Al-Muhammadiyah # 7/50
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ الرَّازِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، قَالَ: اكْتَحِلُوا بِالإِثْمِدِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ، وَيُنْبِتُ الشَّعْرَ وَزَعَمَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، كَانَتْ لَهُ مُكْحُلَةٌ يَكْتَحِلُ مِنْهَا كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ، ثَلاثَةً فِي هَذِهِ، وَثَلاثَةً فِي هَذِهِ.
Muhammad bin Humaid Al-Razi told us, he said: Abu Dawud Al-Tayalisi told us, on the authority of Abbad bin Mansour, on the authority of Ikrimah, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: Apply kohl with ithindi, for it brightens the sight and makes hair grow. He claimed that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, He had a kohl-based kohl that he used every night, three times this time, and three times that time.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الْهَاشِمِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ (ح) وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: كَانَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَكْتَحِلُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَنَامَ بِالإِثْمِدِ، ثَلاثًا فِي كُلِّ عَيْنٍ، وَقَالَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، فِي حَدِيثِهِ: إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، كَانَتْ لَهُ مُكْحُلَةٌ يَكْتَحِلُ مِنْهَا عِنْدَ النَّوْمِ، ثَلاثًا فِي كُلِّ عَيْنٍ.
Abdullah bin Al-Sabah Al-Hashimi Al-Basri told us, he said: Ubaid Allah bin Musa told us, he said: Israel told us, on the authority of Abbad bin Mansour. (H) Ali bin Hajar told us, he said: Yazid bin Harun told us, he said: Abbad bin Mansour told us, on the authority of Ikrimah, On the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to apply kohl before going to sleep with antimony, three times in each eye. And Yazid bin Harun said, in His hadith: The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, had an eyeliner that he used to apply kohl when sleeping, three times in each eye.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ هُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: عَلَيْكُمْ بِالإِثْمِدِ عِنْدَ النَّوْمِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ، وَيُنْبِتُ الشَّعْرَ.
Ahmad bin Mani’ told us, he said: Muhammad bin Yazid told us, on the authority of Muhammad bin Ishaq, on the authority of Muhammad bin Al-Munkadir, on the authority of Jabir, who is Ibn Abdullah, said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: You should wear sunscreen when sleeping, for it sharpens sight and makes hair grow.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: إِنَّ خَيْرَ أَكْحَالِكُمُ الإِثْمِدُ، يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ، وَيُنْبِتُ الشَّعْرَ.
Qutayba bin Saeed narrated to us, saying: Bishr bin Al-Mufaddal narrated to us, on the authority of Abdullah bin Uthman bin Khuthaym, on the authority of Saeed bin Jubayr, on the authority of Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: The best of your eyeliners is ithmid, it sharpens eyesight and makes hair grow.

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُسْتَمِرِّ الْبَصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: عَلَيْكُمْ بِالإِثْمِدِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَجْلُو الْبَصَرَ، وَيُنْبِتُ الشَّعْرَ.
Ibrahim bin Al-Mustamir Al-Basri told us, he said: Abu Asim told us, on the authority of Uthman bin Abdul-Malik, on the authority of Salem, on the authority of Ibn Umar, He said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: You should wear antimony, for it sharpens the sight and makes hair grow.
