Nasr bin Ali, and more than one person, narrated to us. Sufyan bin Uyaynah narrated to us, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Ubayd Allah bin Abdullah bin Utbah. He heard him. From Abu Hurairah, Zayd ibn Khalid, and Shibl, that they were with the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and two men came to him quarreling, so he stood up. One of them went to him and said, “I adjure you by God, O Messenger of God, when you have decided between us according to the Book of God.” Then his opponent, who was more knowledgeable than him, said, “Yes, O Messenger.” God, judge between us according to the Book of God, and give me permission to speak. Indeed, my son was stubborn in this matter. We quarreled with his wife, so they told me that My son was subjected to stoning, so I ransomed him with a hundred sheep and a servant, then I met people of knowledge, and they claimed that my son was subjected to a hundred lashes and a general exile. The stoning was imposed on this woman. The Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said, “By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, I will decide between you according to the Book of God.” The hundred sheep, and the servant will return to you and your son a hundred lashes and exile for a year. And tomorrow, O Anis, this woman will be subjected to this, if she confesses. So stone her.” So he attacked her in the morning and she confessed, so he stoned her.
