Mahmoud bin Ghaylan narrated to us, Waki’ narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, on the authority of Adam bin Sulaiman, on the authority of Sa’id bin Jubayr, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said when This verse was revealed: (Whether you reveal what is within yourselves or hide it, Allah will call you to account for it.) He said, “Nothing of it has entered their hearts.” It enters from something. They said to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he said, “Say, We hear and we obey.” So God placed faith in their hearts, and God revealed: (The Messenger believed in what was sent down to him from his Lord, and so do the believers.) Verse: (God does not burden a soul except within its capacity, for it is what She has earned, and upon her is what she has earned. Our Lord, do not hold us accountable if we forget or make a mistake.) He said, “I have done so.” (Our Lord, do not hold us accountable. insistence as You placed upon those before us.) He said, “I have done so.” (Our Lord, do not burden us with that which we have no strength, but pardon us. And forgive us and have mercy on us.” He said, “I have done so.” Abu Issa said, “This is a good hadith, and this has been narrated from other than this.” The narration is on the authority of Ibn Abbas, and Adam bin Sulaiman is the father of Yahya bin Adam. And in the chapter on the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him.
