Ibrahim bin Yaqoub narrated to us, Amr bin Asim narrated to us, Hammad bin Salamah narrated to us, on the authority of Thabit, on the authority of Amr bin Abi Salamah, on the authority of his mother, Umm Salamah, on the authority of Abu Salamah, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “If a calamity befalls one of you, let him say: (Indeed, we belong to God and To Him we shall return.) O God, I consider my affliction to be with You, so reward me for it and replace it with something better for me.” When Abu Salamah was dying, he said Oh God, produce among my family someone better than me. When he died, Umm Salamah said: (To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return) I have sought refuge in the sight of Allah. My affliction, so reward me for it. Abu Issa said: This is a hasan ghareeb hadith from this route. This hadith was narrated from other than this. The first narration is on the authority of Umm Salamah, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and Abu Salama’s name is Abdullah bin Abdul Asad.
