Hadith #27298
Ibn Abi Umar told us, Bishr bin Al-Sari told us, Hammad bin Salamah told us, on the authority of Ayyub, on the authority of Abu Qilaba, on the authority of Abdullah bin Yazid, On the authority of Aisha, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to divide among his wives fairly and say, “O God, this is my portion in what I possess, so do not You blame me for what you possess and I do not possess.” Abu Issa said: The hadith of Aisha is like this. It was narrated by more than one person, on the authority of Hammad bin Salamah, on the authority of Ayyub, on the authority of Abu Qalaba, on the authority of Abdullah bin Yazid, on the authority of Aisha, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to swear. It was narrated by Hammad bin Zaid and more than one person on the authority of Ayoub, on the authority of Abu Qilaba, on the authority of Abu Qalaba, that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, used to swear. This is more correct than the hadith of Hammad bin Salamah. The meaning of his saying is “No.” “You blame me for what you have and I do not.” What is meant by it is love and affection, as some scholars have interpreted it.
